Frequently asked questions
What is Nabo?
Nabo connects you with neighbours who are happy to accept parcels on behalf of each other. Never worry about missed, damaged or stolen parcels again – our simple app lets you have your delivery dropped with someone nearby who’s definitely at home. It’s a smarter, safer and more neighbourly way to receive parcels – building stronger communities and helping the planet by reducing failed delivery attempts.
How does Nabo work?
If you’re expecting a parcel when you can’t be in, just find someone nearby on the app who can! You can choose from our Bubble or Relay services:
- Our FREE Nabo Bubble service connects trusted neighbours within a 1 minute walk of each other. It’s a reciprocal system where you can have your delivery dropped with someone who’s definitely at home, or do someone on your street a solid by accepting theirs. You can then arrange a collection time that’s convenient for both of you through our app (and go get your parcel in your slippers).
- Our Nabo Relay service also works by connecting people who need to have a parcel delivered with someone who is available to take it safely – normally a verified individual or small business. You may not be within 1 minute of each other, but it’ll still be local to home or work, so better than heading half way across town to a depot, or worrying that your parcel will be nicked from your porch if you’re not home.
What is the difference between Nabo Bubble and Nabo Relay?
Both make managing parcel deliveries easier and more convenient.
- Nabo Bubble is FREE and hyper-local (everyone is within a 1 minute walk of each other). It connects a small group of neighbours who take parcels for each other, allowing everything to be arranged through the app.
- Nabo Relay is ideal when you don’t have a Bubble nearby or need more availability. Relay hubs are verified individuals or businesses who receive parcels for a fee. They may not be 1 minute away, but they’re still local.
When should I use Nabo ?
If you shop online a lot, you’ll know the dramas all those deliveries can cause. Waiting in, or worrying your parcel will be nicked if you’re out. Finding it “hidden” in a hedge (on a rainy day, obvs), or having to collect it yourself from a [not very] nearby collection point or locker. Say goodbye to delivery dramas with Nabo, where your neighbourhood network means next door is next best if you can’t be in. Have your delivery dropped with someone who’s definitely going to be home, or do someone on your street a solid by accepting theirs. Download the app now to harness the power of your friendly nabo-hood!
What is the benefit of using Nabo?
There are so many! Firstly, it puts an end to delivery dramas. Nabo is a secure and tracked alternative to deliveries being left outside or in “a safe place” – so no more worrying about parcels being nicked from your doorstep, or damaged in the rain. Secondly, your stuff is now just around the corner, rather than in a locker or collection point half way across town – which means less hassle for you, and less need to get in your car (which is better for the environment). And finally, Nabo is a great way to get to know your neighbours and get involved in the community.
Is there really that much of a problem with parcel theft and damage?
Afraid so ☹️. More than £8bn of parcels are stolen or damaged every year in the UK. Make sure yours isn’t one of them by downloading Nabo today!
How is Nabo better than other parcel collection points?
Convenience stores and lockers make you do the work. Why should you have to walk or drive to a collection point to get your stuff, when you could just pop round to one of your neighbours (in your slippers, if you like)? And if it means you don’t have to drive, you’re saving the planet too 🙂.
How close will my parcels be with Nabo?
Our Nabo ‘Bubble’ service connects neighbours within a 1 minute walk of your home.
Can I use Nabo if I live in a flat or apartment building?
Yes! Nabo works for all types of housing – and research has shown parcel theft is worst in blocks of flats. Nabo Bubbles are particularly handy here, connecting neighbours within the same building to create a convenient and secure parcel buddy system and a stronger community vibe.
Is Nabo safe?
Yes! We take trust and safety seriously. Everyone on Nabo is verified, and you can choose who you send your parcel to and how much information you share with them. For extra peace of mind, we’re rolling out AI-based identity checks and facial ID technology.
How do I join a Nabo Bubble?
Simple! Download the app and see if there’s a Bubble you can join near you. If not, you can start your own – invite neighbours to join via the app (or over the garden fence!). The bigger your Bubble, the better it works!
How do I start a Nabo Bubble, or invite neighbours to the one I’m in?
There’s a handy invite link in your app that you can text or email to anyone. You can also tell neighbours next time you see them in the street, or send a paper airplane with instructions over the garden fence…. OK, maybe not the last one. But you get the point. You’re in control of inviting people into your Bubble – and the more people it has, the better it will work!
I don't know my neighbours
We’ve met Jan at number 24, and she’s LOVELY! …Just kidding. We get that not everyone knows their neighbours. But we think meeting them and building a local community is part of what makes Nabo great. Everyone who signs up to Nabo wants to say goodbye to delivery dramas. So you already have that in common.
How do I know the people in my Bubble are trustworthy?
You can only join a Bubble by invitation or by requesting to join and getting approved by an existing member. This way, everyone is connected and trusted within the group.
How can I become a Nabo Relay point?
If you’re regularly home and want to earn money by accepting parcels for others, you can apply to be a Nabo Relay point. We’ll verify your address and a few other details, then you’re in! We’ll match you with people who need their parcels looked after, and you could earn up to £200 a month just for being at home!
Can I track my parcel? How do I know when it’s been delivered?
Yes! Deliveries in Bubbles and Relay are fully tracked and managed through the app. You’ll be notified when your parcel arrives at your neighbour’s address, and then can chat with them using in-app messaging to arrange a convenient time to collect it.
Much better than worrying that it’s sat on your porch or “hidden” in a hedge, where it can be nicked or soaked by the rain.
What if a parcel is delivered on a day I’m not expecting it?
The Nabo app has a ‘panic button’ you can press if a courier lets you know a parcel has been left outside your door. It will send an SOS to members of your Bubble, asking for someone to pick it up and keep it safe for you. You can then arrange a convenient time to collect it from them.
What happens if I have a problem with my delivery or handover?
If a parcel is damaged or goes missing, contact your retailer first. If you’re having problems with the Nabo handover, try our in-app messaging function – and if that doesn’t work, reach out to our friendly customer service team. We’ll help you get in touch with them or find an alternative solution for getting the parcel to where it should be.
Do I have to take parcels for other people?
- Nabo Bubble is founded on community spirit, so we encourage users to receive parcels for others as well as send them – just set your availability for when it suits you. (And if you end up sending far more than you receive? You may just have to buy those friendly people at number 11 a box of thank you chocolates every so often!)
- Nabo Relay is a professional, paid service. You don’t have to receive parcels to use it.
Do I need to be at home to accept parcels for other Nabo users?
Yes, you should be home or have a secure arrangement (like a lockable parcel box) to accept deliveries on behalf of others. When you register with Nabo, you can set your availability, and the system will match you with neighbours based on when you’re in.
My availability to receive parcels isn't the same every week
No problems! We get that life isn’t the same week to week. Our simple app lets you set and change your availability, so other users can select someone who will definitely be at home when they need them.
What does it cost to use Nabo?
Nabo is completely FREE! We want everyone to use it while we build our community and make the platform awesome! Our plan is that Nabo Bubble will always be free, but using Nabo Relay may incur a small fee in future. Any costs or subscription plans will be clearly communicated before they’re introduced – we don’t even ask for any bank details at this stage!
Does Nabo work everywhere?
We’re rapidly expanding, and working hard to bring our service to more areas. Visit our website or app and enter your postcode to see if there’s already a Nabo network near you. If not, you can start your own using our invite link!
Why do you need my mobile number?
We use your mobile number as our primary way to identify you for three reasons:
- Convenience – no passwords to remember.
- Security – your mobile number is unique and we use one time passwords to verify your identity.
- Service – we’ll need to notify you about parcels your neighbours have taken for you and vice versa. Text messages are one of the best ways we can do this.
Can I send parcels through Nabo, or is it only for receiving parcels?
Right now, Nabo can only help you receive parcels. But we’re actively exploring how we can help you send parcels through Nabo too, because we know this bit can also be a real pain!
